AUTUMN RUN 16th September 2018

Sunday 16th September 2018 was a bright and sunny day, clear skies and a bountiful assortment of gleaming Model T Ford cars ready for the off at the Maldron Hotel, Portlaoise where organisers Paul Murphy and John Hendy were ready at 10:30 am to deliver their briefing to all drivers.  Added to the 22 cars, drivers and passengers was a group of 10 visitors from Texas, USA, who in some shape or form had Murphy connections and they were invited to join in on what was day three of their fortnight tour of Ireland.  THE ASSEMBLY Following a meeting...

BRASS BRIGADE in AUGUST 2018

Not a club event but one supported by many members of The Irish Model T Club to the extent that out of a role call of 50 brass cars, 24 were from our membership.  Perhaps 50% represents that number of cars in the early part of the 20th Century that were of Ford manufacture.   Our rally base was the Pembroke Hotel in the marble city Kilkenny.  Weather was glorious on Saturday where by invitation, a goodly number of participants displayed their brass cars cheek by jowl with members of Kilkenny Motor Club who were having their annual static show...

DeCourcey Harvest Day 2018

On the Monday of the August bank holiday week end, John O’Neill Chairman of DeCourcey Vintage Club based in Ballinadee welcomed a large attendance of friends, neighbours and participators in the annual harvest festival where voluntary donations are gathered and later distributed to worthy charities in West Cork.  There was the accustomed harvesting with vintage combine harvesters, a static display of tractors, old and very old, among them a selection of Fordson Tractors and working stationary engines of all kinds.    The display of...

STRADBALLY in AUGUST 2018

The August 2018 bank holiday week end was sunny and warm.  Record making crowds attended the annual steam festival.  Our club hosted a stand where we had a static display of Model T Ford cars, commercials and agricultural vehicles.  Plenty of visitors turned up to see the 40 or so vehicles nicely prepared by their owners for the occasion.  Our stand included a hospitality suite and catering facilities where Eleanor and her comrades dished up fresh home made cakes and scones much to the appreciation of our members and guests.  At 3:00 pm we...

29th ANNUAL RALLY | KILLARNEY

cThis year our  annual rally took place in Killarney, Co Kerry. Based at the Castlrosse Hotel in Fossa, the event was organised by Cork members, Matthew Byrne and Timothy Keane.  Most of us arrived on Friday evening in beautiful sunshine and friendships were renewed as we strolled through the car park to greet the cars as they arrived.  Matt and Tim had a packed itinerary over the two days and we picked up our route maps and pack to look over before the rally began. SATURDAY 14th JULY 2018 We were up bright and early on Saturday morning for...

BALLINADEE IN JUNE 2018

Members foregathered at the homestead of John & Mary to welcomed for morning refreshments  in sunny Ballinadee on Sunday 9th June 2018.       Kilpadder Famine Burrial Ground, Innishannon, Co. Our first stop along the way was at Kilpadder famine burial ground near innishannon, Co. Cork.  Our guide, artist Mary Nolan O’Brien as a child passed the old Famine graveyard every day on her way to school — and, at the request of her mother, always murmured a prayer as she walked by. So it was fate that must have brought an elderly American man to...

CALLEN in MAY 2018

The early Summer Run of the Irish Model T Ford Club took place on Sunday 13th May 2018. This year, for the first time, it was in a new venue, Callan Co Killkenny where our rally base was the home of Una and Jerry. Around 20 cars gathered at the home of Una and Jerry Crowley for the customary morning coffee before the run began. It was a beautiful morning as we set off to drive through the leafy roads in this unfamiliar county, passing through Kells and Stoneyford on our way to our first stop, the magnificent estate of Mount Juliet. This...

ADARE in APRIL 2018

The first run of the new Season was held on Sunday 15 April 2018.  Hosts David and Marian Cuddy, together with their family, begin the eagerly awaited event which we all feel is a goodbye to Winter and anticipation of brighter days to come. Pride of place in the reception area was a cut through working model of a Model T engine created by John O’Neill. Thorough inspection by all, it was acclaimed as an excellent piece of work of educational value to those interested in all things mechanical. We gathered as usual at Adare Machinery just...
