30th Annual Rally – day 1

30th Annual Rally – day 1

The Irish Model T Ford Club Annual Rally was based in Co Fermanagh. It was only the second time the club has had our Rally in Northern Ireland. Enniskillen is on beautiful Lower Lough Erne and our hotel, The Killyhevlin was right beside the Lough in beautiful tranquil surroundings.  We were joined by our friends in The Model T Register of Great Britain who had travelled to be with us and had spent the previous few days further east, exploring the famous Giant’s Causeway, Portrush and the fine city of Londonderry.  There were 15 cars in the group and when joined with the Irish Club our number grew to 44 of these venerable old vehicles.  A souvenir brochure was made available to all participants which you may browse here >>30th annual rally souvenir brochure Enniskillen 2019

DRIVERS BRIEFING

The Honorary Secretary introduced Club President Ann Duffy to the gathering.  She extended a warm welcome to our guests from the Model T Register of Great Britain led by Austen Bromley and of course to our members for their continuing support and friendship.

The Honorary Secretary introduced George Fulton, Organiser in Chief for the two day event.  Maps and goodies were distributed and a quick guide of our itinerary.

MARBLE ARCH CAVES

Saturday dawned bright, sunny and very warm and we set off in style to visit the Marble Arch Caves.

Alan & Paula Deasy from Cork kindly send on a link to a video recorded by Motor Cycle spectators on Saturday while we were on our way to the Marble Arch Caves.  Hope you like it https://youtu.be/DAyNEVf3bKw

These caves are one of Europe’s finest showcaves allowing visitors to see a fascinating natural underworld of rivers, winding passages and lofty chambers through a bewildering variety of cave formations.

Afterwards, we relaxed in the sunshine.  We then took the opportunity of taking a group photograph of our cars and selves for posterity before heading to our next stop.

ENNISKILLEN CASTLE

Our scenic journey down the shores of Upper and Lower is a sight not to be missed.  Stunning describes it best which with glorious sunshine and a cavalcade of Edwardian horseless carriages.  A sight to remember.

We went on a guided tour of the beautifully kept Castle and visited the various museums therein and learned about the history over the centuries.

RETURN TO HOTEL

Returning to our hotel, we had plenty of time to relax before our formal dinner in the evening. After a delicious meal we were entertained by The West Scots Folk Orchestra.
