IVVCC Brass Brigade Run 2014.

IVVCC Brass Brigade Run 2014.

This hugely enjoyable run took place over the weekend of 20/21 September.  Based in the Park Hotel Dungarvan, it attracted 54 cars dating from 1899 to 1918 including 13 Model T Fords.

John Hendy’s 1909 Tourer headed the list as the oldest T with Billy Ryan’s 1919 as the most “modern”.

A great display of Brass cars of all makes and ages were gathered in the car park of the hotel on Saturday, and of course both owners and the locals were in total awe of the collection of beauties sparkling in the evening sunshine.

Proceedings began in the hotel with a gala dinner and welcoming speeches from members of the IVVCC and old friends were greeted, stories shared and indeed new friendships were forged as we chatted happily among fellow old car enthusiasts.

We set off from the Park Hotel along the quiet country roads admiring the delightful autumnal weather.

Some few of us stopped for a brief time to deal with a minor problem.

Some visitors had travelled long distances for the run but we all agreed it was well worth the effort. Our thanks to the dedicated organisers of the event and we look forward to the next Brass Brigade Event in the future.

As for the Model T members, we were delighted to have an occasion to give our cars a run at any time and it was wonderful to have such a good turnout of the “Car that put the World on Wheels”
